Fortnite - Debut Trailer

Along with the official trailer for Capcom's The Last of Us, another post-apocalyptic zombie game trailer was revealed at last night's VGAs. The survival horror-strategy game, Fortnite, developed by Epic Games, was presented by design director, Cliff Bleszinski.

The game, which has a completely different look and feel than the more serious "The Last of Us", is described as a survival horror/shooter/strategy game that focuses on teamwork and planning. According to Forbes, the game will focus on multiplayer teamwork during daylight, where players must work together to build a fort and share resources. This portion of the game is very important because at night, the zombies come out to feed; during that time, the game will shift to a 3rd-person shooter.

Epic Games is responsible for the successful, Gears of War 3 and Infinity Blade II. During the show, Bleszinski stated, “We’ve had amazing success with games like Gears of War and Infinity Blade this year, but we decided it was time to switch things up a little bit and do something different and fun...Imagine a world where you explore, you scavenge, you build and ultimately you survive.”

This game definitely looks like it is going to be a blast to play because it combines many different elements to it. It sort of has an arcade feel, similar to House of the Dead, as well as the usual strategy scenario similar to games like The Sims and Zelda. It doesn't look like it takes itself too seriously so, one can expect to have an enjoyable time playing it with friends.

What do you think about Fortnite?
