Carrie Remake Gets a Director

Back in May, 2011, reports of a Carrie remake made their way onto the web. Today, director, Kimberly Pierce (Boys Don't Cry), is in final negotiations to direct the 1976 Brian De Palma classic.

The film is being penned by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who would like the new version of the psychological horror to remain as close to Stephen King's debut novel as possible. The creator of Carrie himself would even consider a remake, if done correctly.

Carrie, which originally starred Sissy Spacek as the title character, details the story of a high school outsider who has the power of telekinesis. When the bullying and tormenting of her peers becomes too much for her, Carrie uses her telekinetic powers to seek revenge.

The remake is being produced by MGM and there were even rumblings of Megan Fox to star as the title character. Uh, I love you Megan, but you are the COMPLETE opposite of Carrie. If anything, Fox would be perfect for the role of bully, Chris (originally played by Nancy Allen).

Are you excited for the Carrie remake?

I could not imagine Megan Fox as Carrie. Casting her would just ruin the film in my humble opinion.

The last remake had an awesome Carrie, Angela Bettis. Too bad the film itself was mediocre.
