André Øvredal to Direct a Movie about a Demon Hunting Soccer Mom

In my opinion, nothing would be worse than being a soccer mom. All of those screaming kids that you can't really take back or hand off to someone else, the minivan, the horrible haircut and lowered sense in fashion because you're too busy dressing the very needy bastards you call your children. GAH! But, put demon hunting into the mix and your life as a soccer mom will probably get a lot worse. That's the case for Kate Connor in Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom, a comedy horror that has just landed André Øvredal to direct.

According to Moviehole, Øvredal, who previously directed the awesomely entertaining found-footage horror, Trollhunter, will take helm of the comedy which is based on Julie Kenner's book of the same name. The director will work alongside Dan and Kevin Hagerman, and Chris Columbus, of Columbus Pictures, to write the script.

Carpe Demon follows Kate, a former demon/vampire/zombie/paranormal hunter, who retired from her hunting days to become a stay at home mom and raise a family with her established hubby. However, Kate's plan to live a normal life is ruined when a demon finds her and attacks her, forcing her back into her old life. The book is praised for its humor and compared to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, if Buffy had kids.

The film is still in the early stages of development so no casting has been made at this time. The story sounds interesting and I enjoy Øvredal as a director, so this one should be a fun watch.
